freezing issues

Recently my sc4 game freeze up on me. It only happens while either ending or starting around, and everyonce in a while during the character select screen. It only happens to sc4 and no other game. It happens while playing offline, online, versus mode, tols. so I cant blame it on online bullshit.

I have done the following:

Ran a disc cleaner in my xbox
took the disc to get it surfaced
tried it without the hard drive
I have deleted saved content on my hard drive
Installed it to hard drive
uninstalled from the hard drive

When it freezes it locks up my console completly, it is totally unresponsive. I have to shut it down and restart it. Before I go out and buy another copy from game stop, switch the disc and return it to game stop, i want to know if anyone knows what causes this (Jaxel Im thinkng of you being the smart tech nerd you are) and rather getting a new disc would solve it. It doesnt happen with any other game, just sc4

Much as I hate to say it, I suspect something is wrong with the console itself.

If it was the disk, installing the game should have fixed it.
If it was the hard drive, playing without the hard drive would have fixed it.
If it was corrupted files on the hard drive, playing without the hard drive would have fixed it. Though you could still try clearing out your cache: http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11131/Xbox-360-Cache-Clear-Code-Revealed/

The other possibility, is if you use an arcade stick or some other controller that you wouldn't normally have plugged into your console when playing other games, that might possibly cause issues, though I highly doubt it.

You can try borrowing someone else's sc4 disk and seeing if that helps, or try your disk in someone else's console and see if it starts causing problems. Again I have my doubts about this, I imagine there is some sort of checksum for installed games to make sure that they installed properly to your hard drive, but maybe there isn't.
 
I cleared the cache out. It seemed to work. However since yesterday was my birthday I didnt get the chance to play for very long. But I was able to get through like 5 or so rounds without freezing. Which as you know is about 3 rounds more than usual.

Whats weird is I have had issues with other games freezing when they are installed on my hard drive. Viva pinata and codmw2 both did it. I would get the "disc read" error while playing on the hard drive. But when I uninstalled them it worked fine. I dont get it. I suspect my concole to. Ill do more testing later I guess

You might want to check the 360's connection to the HD while you're at it. Sometimes they don't get seated quite right which can cause problems.
 
sounds like your disc drive is starting to go. Be thankful it's not scratching your disks like mine is! it just scratched my MW2 disc for the second time last night! so now i gotta replace mw2 AND get a new xbox! :(
