Final Fantasy XIII

hell if main character dies = game over that kinda adds to the stress of battle...knowing that at all cost ur main has to stay alive is great motivation to not take stupid risk and make somewhat of a plan in battle....guess u do need some kinda strategy in battle huh?

Its all true. I have seen the game from start to finish through streams (I do not care about spoilers). But beware god forbid u mention anything negative to some fans about their game u will garner internet wrath hence Madnis.

The info u posted though is 100% true and if u want an even more detailed breakdown I could give it to u but I won't bother if some fans remain so defensive all faults are ignored.

Also all of the people I saw beat the game all clocked in at 40 hours. There are a grand total of 6 hours worth of movie footage.

Here goes one piece of information. Regular enemies about 20% through the game take 9+ minutes to beat for the rest of the game (and it gets longer); these are just regular enemies I must stress. So depending on ur threshold for tedium u will get bored fast especially when the battle system has so many restrictions that I wouldn't mind getting into for those with an open ear who want that info. The reason i'm upset at this game is because it took so long to come out it really did not deliver.

Can you maybe PM me some of these examples? I don't have the money to be buying games that I will not LOVE.

i hear ya there but sometimes the fun in buying a game is the fact that u dont know what ur gonna get sometimes...its like going to see a movie and all uve seen in the title....of course if u want to save money then go with ur plan of doing some research about said game

back on topic: there are some bullshit things in that list that shinobi brown posted. since it's more about what's based on your personal preference it makes them valid complaints, but still... main character dies in a game.. kind of make sense for it to be game over. I remember playing video games in which the main character dies, we get a nice little screen that says something along the lines of, "you're dead." or "game over" and below it would be "continue?" in which case, i can't see that as a valid complaint.

i just have to say "Wah-Wah" to that... a "too bad, so sad" and use my pinky finger to symbolize a tear drop with a sad face, kind of deal.

so yeah, I would say that that would be a very valid complaint if it was gameover and you had to start from the very beginning of the game. then yes. i would agree that that's some bullshit on squeenix's part. but i don't think that's how it is. i think it's continue from last save point. in which case.. main character dying = game over is fine. makes perfect sense. does that put it in the "Just bitching about anyting" category? survey says yes.

In regards to the "main character dies = game over", I call it bullshit because this is Final Fantasy and it breaks the fundamental tradition already established within the franchise that helps define it. In fact, from the videos I've seen, a lot of FF tradition is broken in XIII, granted some of them aren't as important as they don't affect gameplay. The broken tradition in which I'm referring to, DOES affect gameplay and it doesn't help innovate it, so what's the point? The "it makes sense" argument is shut down by the fact that this is Final Fantasy we're talking about. This isn't a brand spanking new franchise that doesn't have prior history and foundations established. And as I said, it adds nothing innovative to the series so why do it other than "just because"?

Granted, with how people claiming the difficulty of the game being lax, I suppose it won't affect people much anyway.
