the fairy type pokemon aren't what you should be afraid of. it's the non-fairies who can learn fairy moves like alakazam for instance. also i'd recommend literally any other steel attack to iron tail.

Yeah, now we can say fairy type was a bit pointless. I included Mawile in my team for Dragon counter and I'm going to remove her, I trained a protean froakie just to get an "ice pokemon" without using an slot so I can get rid of Mawile.

Also...no one seems to use dragons any more and most dragons right now are multi type and every single wáter pokemon can learn Ice beam. Take Hydreigon for example (to continue with the example) someone in your team probably has at least fighting move, your wáter pokemon probably has ice beam + someone can learn a fairy move, plus someone will have U-turn. so right now Dragons didn't really need the fairy "nerf".

Yes, they did. It's not about their type disadvantages, it's about moves like Outrage, Draco meteor and Dragon Pulse that were damn near unstoppable in the 4th/5th gen, not to mention Dragon Dance. Fairy Type act like a wall that nullifies an offensive that might have been certain death before.

Hydreigon can only learn Iron Tail. :-( But, he can take a hit thanks to a trusty item that allows him to keep 1HP. I plan things out.
