Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

2)It will not be possible to play 2 on 2 in tag team on the same machine...Unlike dead or alive 3...Unfortunate

I believe this is incorrect, as Shimbori himself tweeted that at a recent event they did 4-player tag on one console and had a blast.

IMO, one of the best things about the genre and it's community is that it still emphasizes face-to-face interaction to this very day. Heck, someone from UCLA actually wrote a paper praising this.

Could you send me a copy of that (along with that Tina & Bass american flag stick art for a TE)?

Story in a fighting game is completely meaningless to me

Stop right there. To you. Realize that you are not the center of the universe. Take a deep breath. Get on with your life.

They don't all suck either, some companies like Arc System Works really show a strong commitment to their story lines while not sacrificing on gameplay. The reward that they reap is a contingent of fans who actually buy their games to find out what will happen in them along side tournament worthy fighting. It's all about the commitment the developer in question is willing to make.

So when I ignore it like I have been since forever Zasalamel and Yun-Seong turn up missing from the game. Two characters I really like.
The story, such as it was, with it's twenty minute run time and still image development sketches probably didn't eat up that many resources. Regardless however you have absolutely no guarantee that yun seong or zasalamel would have shown up, or indeed were ever going to show up. You are operating on a completely baseless assumption and you are actually angry and vindictive over something that you imagined.

You forget that namco hasn't shown a strong commitment to the series in a long time, it was in fact a minor miracle that we got what we did. That very lack of commitment is the root of the problem and not the existence of a feature that you have zeroed in on as a scapegoat because you may find it personally distasteful. You can see that lack of commitment in the fact that every element of the game save the netcode seems unfinished. Perhaps project soul truly cares, but Namco simply does not care about the game and they set the time tables and hold the purse strings. If the same game was released with no intention at all to include a story then it's entirely likely that Namco would have held back that many more resources, and even if they had not you have no guarantee they would have had the time to bring you the characters that you wanted. And thats the thing, you can not know. Since we have no way to know you should brush the chip off your shoulder.

Some people need to get their priorities straight and play RPGs for story
Or alternatively, they could continue to expect a complete and polished product and the companies that produce those products could deliver that to them. I expect more of the publisher not less of the fans. We didn't even get the still screens and text we've gotten at the end of arcade mode for street fighter two and you're blaming story for the game's shortcomings?

You're assuming that all 7 billion people on Earth has access to superfast broadband.

Story modes in fighting games IS the future. Want proof? Look at VF.
They dont have to cut it out completely. They can keep the arcade ladder and the little storyboard endings or maybe little cutscenes that won't make any sense as endings+unlockables and have the modes like Survival, Team Battle, Time Attack be usable both offline and online but a whole section dedicated to the story is a waste of time and resources.

I don't play or pay attention to VF but all I here is praise for it whenever its talked about and VF5:FS Offline offers less than SCV unless that was sarcasm.

@Genghis Khan Yeah that horribly unbalanced mess with terrible net code, infinites, block infinites, broken tag mode, and dlc character issues called MK9 was super awesome because it had a great story right? Good try.

Then do me a favor, re-read the post and ignore that part. Don't throw the good points out with the bad. And don't close your mind at the first speed bump.
