Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

Huh, OK. Is it like VF, where throws are really only effective on guarding (or holding) opponents, and you can't throw a person if they start up an attack? (i.e. counter-hit with a throw?)

Kind of, if you try to throw an opponent who's striking at you with a punch or kick, you'll get hit for hi counter damage, or 150% of what the attack will normally do, and be placed in stun. Remember the DoA triangle system. Strikes beat throws, throws beat holds, holds beat strikes. If you use it right, you get the hi counter damage.

Do you hold H and mash P, or how does it work?

In order to break the neutral throw, you pretty much have to anticipate it's coming and press the throw buttons yourself to break it. Neutral throws are primarily punishes in DoA, being the fastest way to deal damage at 5frame start up(4 for some of the grapple characters)

Also, if chain throws are breakable, why use them/how does that work?

There's a timing you have to learn. From what Mr. Wah has said on FSD there's a just frame timing for chain throws where they are unbreakable. When doing a chain throw or offensive hold(throw with hold properties), you'll see a thing pop up under your characters life bar that will say chain throw/hold. You're timing your inputs with that. The opponent watches for that same thing and hits P+F to break it. Basically you want to get your timing to where you barely see it flash on the screen. You eventually get to a point where you don't even look for that anymore, you just know your timing.

Is anyone having problems with Online where the game keeps on saying you have signed out? Keeps on chucking me out of lobbies. I'm just happy I'm not playing ranked!

Such a competitive soul.

I couldn't help but laugh at every cutscene: Zack's crazy self, Lei-Fang walking back and forth, Mila bouncing around, and.....that scene.

Asians and trains just aren't a good combination.
*remembers the intro to "Suicide Club"* Unfortunately...

EDIT: So I just decided to spoil myself and watch DOA5's story mode. I'll admit it was pretty interesting to watch.

Ayane-Well, typically how she was in DOA4. No difference/surprise there.
Hayabusa-Always has to be the badass hero. lol. His role seemed pretty minimal this time around.
Hayate-He has a great presence than before. His relationship with Hitomi is pleasing as well.
Bayman-This man must be neutral, because I was so confused about him.
Brad Wong & Eliot-I put them two together. They have certainly improved this time around, especially Eliot. Nice that he's doing things on his own without Gen-Fu. Eliot and Brad Wong certainly click together.
Hitomi-Absolutely the cutest! lol. Sucks that she lost the tournament though, but I was glad she reached the finals
Lei-Fang-Funniest cutscenes I've watched, though I have a feeling her lost from Jann Lee will once again put her in such a bitter mode. I sense some romantic tension between them too. *winks*
Mila-Not much I can say about her. Her introduction was pleasing, but she began to drift into someone with not much relevance, especially since she LOST the first round in the tournament! Well, maybe next time Mila.
Lisa-I noticed that I didn't get to see much of her with Tina, but her role as a villain was pretty interesting. Not so sure about her "fate" though. She'll probably end up wearing a mask again after that little mishap.
Rig-The best twist I've seen in the series. Who knew that this man would be Donovan's son? I didn't. Needless to say, he'll be around a lot more often in the future. Would like to see how this "villain" role plays out since he is allegedly good friends with Bass.
Kokoro-Too cute AND innocent. Unfortunate that we didn't get to see her and her mother together, especially with everything going on. We will have to see about that.
Zack-Irritated the hayl out me so much, but I was not surprised that he would be as flamboyant as a pink giraffe with make up on.
Tina-The ultimate troll character. She does the most strangest things that somehow gets her father's attention, and yet another occupation that she wants to have. *rolls eyes*. She'll want to be president. I'm sure of it.
Sarah and Akira-I consider them to be cameos at best. Sucks that Pai didn't get her opportunity though.
Jann Lee-Congrats on his win.....Maybe next time Lei-Fang. lol. However, I'm even more glad that he is finally gaining some attention. DOA Movie made it evident that he was downright irrelevant.
Bass-He's just being himself. A little weird with the "bulgy" wrestling outfit he had on.
Helena-Classy, classy, classy she certainly was in the story mode. I hate her primary outfit though, but it's great that her and Kokoro are interacting.
Christie-I don't know what she was planning on doing with Eliot and Rig at the bar (Prostitute much?), but her interaction with Helena....there wasn't any was it? I need to watch that again.
Last but not least the main girl herself..Kasumi..I was so confused at who was the real Kasumi or not, but something tells me Donovan might have some things being planned since the Alpha clone in the beginning of the story was not only physically like Kasumi, but the clone had the emotions down pat too.

About that ending...that is what I call a cliffhanger ending *looks at SCV*, and would definitely bring some interesting things in the future. Was that the real Kasumi? Eh! Who knows.
