Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

Customization adds variety and doesn't affect gameplay (unless they mess up character sizes). As long as they don't let you make your own style or use ridiculously saturated colors, I'm in, I think it would be an awesome extra.

...why not have customization with the iconic characters?
Because having such a customization will eventually spew more demand for customizing aspects. It's like a small crack that eventually leads into a big gap depending on the popularity of the game. I think this creates a potential problem because since it's all about money they have to think of ways to satisfy even more of these types of audience thus spending more time, money and room in the game.

...but the point was CAS caters to the casuals more than the hardcores.
The problem with CAS is that it makes these ppl forget what Soul Calibur is all about. Soul Calibur originally started out with original casts and I believe this is what SC is suppose to be known for. Now everywhere you go online you see most ppl playing CAS, I doubt they even care about other original casts or even care to know part of the SC crew. This is what I fear when companies allow such small aspect of customization and then they gain such an audience that it gets bigger.

I mean I remember visiting my little cousin's house to play with her on LittleBigPlanet. And LittleBigPlanet is all about customization on your levels and the sackboy things are that little cute dress-up dolls. What made it successful was being creative and artistic like while having a ton of fun. The costumes for the little sackboys were rip-offs from it's own and many games like god of war, street fighter, etc, but the pieces were there to make and combine your own little fashion.
Ya it's one of those games soley based on customization and while what you say it's true it's one of those games which turns out boring.

The one thing you and I both know is CAS is like a cash cow if it was able to attract a 9 year old. It doesn't need anything like stats to help it like in SCIV(hated those stat things for that wretched tower) or a separate game, it's simply just fashion fluff to show off and take a break from hardcore play. Basically the CAS stuff is supposed to be like LittleBigPlanet except less "customizable happy" on the costumes since parental is strongly advised haha.
Ya but you're forgetting that you're a comparing a game where it's a competition btwn original casts and CAS and a game solely base on the CAS-like. Thus the reasons I've explained are at the top.

As for the rest of quote basically the same response as from above... although it attracts the audience it attracts them in a way that makes them forget what the game is really all about and with the way Namco is promoting their original cast it isn't strong.[/quote]

Yeah how dare they try to enjoy the game in a different way >:(
If you dont like stufff like CaS, then dont use it, simple as that.
Wait why the fuck are we discussing soul calibur in a DOA thread?

Spoiler courtesy of my ramble....
It's all about the benjamins baby. Not many people see eye to eye what Soul Calibur is about like you buddy. Some prefer to enjoy the cast and play it for what it is. Some really detest a certain iconic character and want to change them into a different skin via CAS and etc. You can try to say CAS makes a small crack into more demand for useless stuff for a hardcore, but then that's the part where if it wasn't put in there to begin with, none of this demand for CAS stuff would happen. If CAS stuff were never put in SCIII-SCV, the game would be successful........only on the hardcore side.

Many casuals aren't into say play the game for the big competition as you know more or less. And most times, casuals outweigh the hardcores. Since casuals only care about fun part and will stand by it adamantly by competing only with friends. But the only way to get casuals into hardcore stuff is well....hope they're interested. And that's the hard part.

You can try to persuade and get them into it, but chances are we have to play the tedious "Mother"(show them the ropes and hope they're into it) after you play Father(beat them down). But it isn't an easy task due to attention span.

DOA and Soul Calibur are always overshadowed by Tekken and Street Fighter. And imho, if they didn't advertise Link for an one time deal and CAS to begin with for instance, maybe it would of have been a true hardcore game.

But, SCV imho comes close to a hardcore game despite having CAS and Ezio.

Regarding DOA, if they put customization, awesome. If not, I'll enjoy it regardless as long as they get it right which I'm a bit skeptical of since the Itagaki guy ain't there no more....

Yeah how dare they try to enjoy the game in a different way >:(

Not necessarily discussing Soul Calibur, but debating on should DOA5 have a CAS or not? Along with some examples with some elaborations of our opinions on what I disagree with franman and what he disagrees with of me.

And while I do think your opinion is to be appreciated, but I don't think it's really gonna stop the debate we're having. However, if you're up for it, voice your opinion.
