Basic Q&A Thread

Hey I got a random question about this site. What is the size limit for Signature Images? (I couldn't find any mention of it in any rules or anything) I'm going to become a Premium Supporter on Friday and I'd like to have my image ready ahead of time. Thanks.

I'm going to try to ask this question here, well there is a bit of shpeal before it.

I have tried playing through the entire cast and have not found a style which fits me, to me it feels like the characters are all the same, just look differently. I'm pretty new to Soul Caliber and just recently picked up SCV, so I really don't know their styles and what not.

What I can say is what I like to do. I like to punish moves my opponents make (that's why I like counter supers). I like to bide my time and wait a bit before choosing the time to retaliate at my opponent. What characters do well in that regard?

which are the best lows in the game?

against which char should i consider blocking low sometimes?

Mitsurugi 2kb (BE) is probably the best low in the game, Cervy 3A gets an honorable mention.

The traditional m/l mixup is less applicable in SC due to guard damage and CH catching of horizontals vs sidestep. The function of blocking low is generally to avoid throw mixups from powerful characters (Astaroth) or to guess under highs and punish rather than to block-lows-and-punish.

SC5 specifically punishes passivity on defense by it's very design. The "wait and punish" style doesn't work very well in this game as punishes don't do a ton of damage unless they are launch punishes (which tend to come out of Guard Bursting). Moves recover very well on whiff, too.

There are characters that punish well, but they have to induce mistakes to punish rather than wait or the opponent to kill themselves. Pyrrha (236B), Alpha Patroklos (2143a:B) and Natsu (a:6) all have very strong punishment moves. Maxi super is also very fast and a strong punish.

I have tried Pyrrha Omega, and she seems to have good punishment tools. Although being a boss character does not make her well liked among people I play with. She seems balanced enough, and I kind of like her.
