Anybody played the Killzone 2 beta yet ?

I am downloading it now. All I have been hearing is outstanding things about the game. I will have to check it out tonight since I have to leave for work soon. All these good games need to stop coming out in such close proximity to each other because my wallet can't take this shit.

I kind of hope somebody local gets this so I can see it on a big fancy tv, but other than that it just looks like a by the numbers shooter. Not to say it won't be a solid game, but the first one was so fucking boring.

you're talking about the demo...I have the code for it but haven't downloaded it yet...maybe I'll do that tonight. The beta was the mutiplayer beta that ended near the end of December. That is where this game will shine. Take the Call of Duty 4 leveling system and add in the Team Fortress 2 class system and you have a general idea of Killzone 2's multiplayer. It will be good.

So I was able to get in a few minutes with KZ2 before heading to work this morning. The game looks gorgeous, but it's just a by the numbers FPS. I read a review yesterday for the game and it basically said that Killzone 2 does everything well but there isn't one thing that you can look to that really distinguishes it from all of the other FPSs that are out there.
As for someone like me, I have a few FPSs already and not alot of time. I don't see myself dropping $60 for this. And shooters these days are going to be just by the numbers. That can be a positive or a negative depending on how you want to look at it. KZ2 does everything well and the weapons are balanced, but right now I am looking for something that I am dying to play, and I don't get that feeling as of yet.
I'm sure the game will do well. It has over 1.3 million preorders in Europe alone. I'm just not dying to play it. It lacks personality would be how I would describe it. But if you want a shooter that is solid and balanced, then go cop it.
