Any Collector's Among Us?

I used to play Magic a lot, but that is a slippery slope. I decided one day to get good and spent a huge chunk of change only to get slapped. Then I decided it wasn't worth it to spend all my money on it when people are going to kill me on the second turn, not very fun.

I have a weird fetish of collecting old tools and machinery. I have more antique tools than I do modern tools. And I still use quite a bit of the older tools. My wife hates me for it. I want to hang some antique stuff up in the house, but I was nearly struck by lightining, and set of fire for making a dumb suggestion.

Nothing like the feeling of having spent enough on little paper cards to have bought a sweet new fight stick or a couple new games only to get swiftly crushed.

All the building and counter-building and the power creep of new sets... the need to get more, and better cards, seems like an endless money pit.

I'm at the point where I'm looking at 10-20 dollar cards and dual-lands and all this whatnot and feeling kinda queezy. But it's fun to theory craft, I gotta be honest.

It would never stand up in a tournament but until my friends started packing a lot of artifact destruction into their decks I was having a jolly time with

For me im the combo player, either kill me in 3-4 turns or i " combo off " and win.
You are right about blue in the past but wizards are pushing agro and creatures to the point of it no longer being "rock paper sissor"

Oh quick though did you learn about "manaburn" and did you find hard to get your head around?
They got rid of it a few years ago and the reason was it was hard for new players...
They also removed damage on the stack but i wont go there..

No, why would I have trouble wrapping my head around it? Manaburn is an easy concept to understand but it was a stupid idea to begin with. Better off without it. Leaves you free to create traps if that strikes your fancy ect. As for the aggro on creatures, I might appreciate those improvements a little more if I could readily afford some of those nicer cards.

I had a very impressive collection that mysteriously disappeared after I went to college and my neighbor, who was a Magic player himself, began hanging around with my sister at the house. How... suspicious.

Seriously, it's too expensive a hobby, especially when they start updating editions. I had a blast with it as a kid before I knew the inner workings but the moment I delved in deep it was too late. I ruined it for myself and my wallet.

Suspicious indeed... Shame though man, guess that means I can't hit you up for cards :D. True though, expensive hobby.
