Good day,

I am fairly new to the Soul Calibur series (played a little bit of one of the earlier versions that was on the Dreamcast). However, I plan to dedicate a lot of my time to improving in SCV. I am loving the game so far. I play on the PS3, and I use the standardPS3 controller.I'm currently just playing the various characters in duels, trying to figure out which ones I like. However, I plan to dedicate myself to one character soon, as there is a local tournament at the end of the month that I plan to compete in. And I just realized that Final Round in Atlanta is coming up and there's a SCV tournament there, so I'm going to register for that as well.

I haven't played a fighter competitively before, so I have no idea what the best ways to approach this are. So for now, I'll just have fun, do practice to try to learn moves, focus on one character but somewhat learn the others so that I know what they are capable of.

Oh man, getting into the tourney scene from the start :). Nice to meet ya man and I wish ya the best of luck. No matter what just have a positive attitude about it. Only advice I can offer. Be a good sport if you win. If you lose try to learn from it. Never be too proud to ask for a little advice.
