Abusive moderation on this site

In my opinion, the tier list thread should be closed. It has been done and done and redone...
Also the threads that are anti-whatevercharacter are counter-productive.

Papy... again, I dont see the issue. Mods are closing the threads because there are already a dozen other threads that are the EXACT same thing and are still ACTIVE. Now if those other threads were inactive, that would be one thing. But they aren't. Quit bitching.

If people try to insult each other just a little bit less then maybe just maybe a good discussion can occur, one that both sides can be pleased with.

I think part of the problem is that people on both sides of the argument get pretty emotional about the whole thing, but for understandable reasons. On one side people get pissed that they train hard and dedicate time but then get launched out the ring so fast that their tournament experience only lasts a matter of minutes. On the other side people(understandably) don't want to lose their main to a ban. So both sides run to the forums and post without thinking much and all that comes out is nonsense(a lot of the time but not all the time).

I do agree that we should be allowed to have a rational conversation and if anything meaningless posts that consist of absolutely nothing constructive can be deleted. I do agree that pointless arguments are... well pointless. But there are some good arguments that go unheard. Personally I don't consider anything in the game to be broke and for the record I am not in favor of outright banning characters, just feels kind of wrong. I do however consider somethings to be unbalanced. Beatable but still heavily unbalanced.

Now with different styles of fighting there are bound to be match ups that lead to someone being at a disadvantage. BUT when just about the whole cast is at such a disadvantage that they can't screw up once on a small stage, that has got to raise concern. Now the idea of using a few select stages only would not ruin anything but it would create some kind of balance. There would still be hundreds who complain about getting ringed out but at least the better players who actually train hard and work on the match up would have a more reasonable chance and not lose it all over one screw up.

The reasons you stated as to why Algol is broken are somewhat absurd, and they're things that plenty of other characters have as well. You don't want him banned for those reasons, you use those to back up your desire to ban him because of his bubbles. BB is nothing broken. 1A is nothing broken. Sure, they are good, but if Mitsurugi had these same attacks, nobody would really think much of it. Setsuka's 1A: A: A is similar in speed and punishability to Algol's 1A, but it does much more damage and it is all natural combo on regular hit. People just try to find extra reasons that could help support their ban argument, when in reality the character's only "problem" is one simple aspect of the character's movelist. Amy has plenty of shit that could warrant a ban, but someone would only use these moves as reasons for a ban if she also had bubbles or a doom combo. There are ways around bubbles; they can all be stepped, they can be impacted, and they are all reset after a throw is performed.

Also, a nice example of a site that doesn't bother closing its ban discussion topics is Smash Boards. BAN META KNIGHT!

/edit/ Forgot to mention that Algol's phenomenal backstep is countered by the fact that he has a shit stepping speed.

not reading enough of the threads on this site i can't comment on to what exists and what doesn't exist but if people are trying to create productive discussions then it should be handled with a bit of respect. now having modded on my fair share of forums the best thing to do if someone starts a new thread for a topic that already exists and has a valid reason to do so then it is a mods duty to point that person towards that thread, give them time to see the already existing thread and then delete it. while i am not familiar with how these current threads have been handled it is important for mods to remember that their job is to keep the forums clean and direct users to the proper areas for the discussion they wish to have. i for one would not want to see that holier then thou sort of thing that was prevalent on caliburforums and if mods are acting this way then their modship should be in question.
