A few questions about Soul Calibur V

Rugi is relatively easy, same with Artichoklos and his sister. The game is fairly balanced and based more on player skill because most characters have the tools to deal with other characters, granted people will bitch about Viola either way, and some seldom played characters like Jin can catch you off guard. Punishes, impacts, and Just guards make dealing with spam happy scrubs pretty easy, but if you are fighting a smart spammer, who is spamming moves that he knows you don't know how to deal with, things can get annoying quickly. Many Rugi's like to get spam happy with 1B unless you know how to properly punish it. Enjoy the game, and welcome.

I haven't really seen Viola as a threat (but I haven't been playing online either)

Beware Soul Calibur V's Lord Regent, Viola the Great. She will make you hate your life. XD

First of all, welcome to the site. Always nice to have people that are interested in SC V.
I'll answer the easy question: Spammers are easy to beat, but their is that one time where you might be having an off day and they get you. Or they know what they're doing. Anyways, don't let it get you down, just keep at it.

As far as characters go, their ease of use does some what have a role in things, like with aPat. Since he has a good amount of JF's and difficult combos, it does add up.
Now characters that are easy, well some have already said who. I agree that Mitsurugi is relatively easy, same with the Alexandra siblings. Xiba is also an easy one to learn.

As far as counters go, it's all a matter of learning your character and what tactics you take to battle against your opponent. Best to go to the Soul Arena to look up character info, combos and match-ups.

Hope that helps, if you ever need anything just PM me and I'll reply when I can.

Lately I've been playing as Mitsurugi. I've noticed he does some good damage but I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to faster swinging enemies and those who have extremely long range attacks.

I haven't really seen Viola as a threat (but I haven't been playing online either)

The hardest enemy I've faced is probably Xiba. He is much faster than he looks and hardly has any openings. =P
http://8wayrun.com/threads/the-basics-of-soulcalibur.15258/ this should help you out against your average online player. These guides basically show you the theory behind Soulcalibur's gameplay. There's no way you wouldn't benefit from this. Good luck dude.
