8WayRun.Com Digital Podcast?

We were planning on integrating with Skype to begin with... how does that avoid having to buy extra mics to mail around the country? We want to chat with someone over Skype, they need a mic. Cell-phone mics are horrid and should NEVER be used for a podcast.

I have some intermediate level mics (2 condensers and 2 regular boom mics) at my house as well as a small mixer and a 12 track (that doubles as a mixer) and stands. But I dont trust you guys for a minuet so you're only getting it if i'm engineering.

Sounds good to me... takes the work load off me. Since you're in a band, I assume you get good audioquality out of that stuff. Does it plug into your computer? I would like to intermix 5 audio streams (4 people + 1 skype)...

lol I was. I got kicked out a few months back (bad chemistry), and i'm too busy with school to get something going again at the moment.

I got all the mics through craigslist from trading my old bass cab, and I got the 12 track from a friend cause he thought it was broken and I was able to fix it.

What i'm thinking is we record the entire thing on the 12 track and then bounce it onto the computer using some sorta audio recording software. Audacity works fine. For skype we can just split the computer's output, have one end going directly into the 12 track and also have it on the speakers so everyone can hear it. I'm almost certain the mics wont pick up the speakers if we do it right. The only drawback is that only one person can monitor. I don't have the means to hook up everyone in the room. And if we want to its expensive, you're looking at $50 for entry level cans, plus we'd need some sorta amplification to split the headphone jack since more than 3 people would need it.

The Dynamic mics are only good for one person, but the condensers are good for at least 2 people. So we got enough mics to cover it.

also although its a 12 track it can only record 6 tracks at a time, but I'm able to get around that through using the mixer. So we have up to 10 individual tracks to work with.

I should be free on thursday if you want me to come over and give a test run.

We'll we're gonna do a run for this on Thursday... anyone have any topic requests? Right now on the agenda we have two topics: World Cyber Games and Broken Destiny. In a future episode we are going to do "How to deal with Algol and Hilde".
