My poor car and my f'in neck.

I never had any problems with the GTP (yeh, supercharged). Hopefully, it stays that way.

I'm just concerned that everything gets fixed (even the not-so-apparent stuff) that may have occured.

Since I got rear-ended at 40mph and from appearance my bumper and trunk are dented (trunk still works 100%), and my passenger-side exhaust is rammed into the car - can you think of anything beyond these two things I would now want to have investigated?

I'm totally amazed how well my car took the impact. It doesn't look that bad at a glance at all. Esp when you look at her car that looks like it was nuked. Perhaps my frame has issues now?

if you got rear ended, the are definetly a few things that will need to be checked. Your car is equipped with whats known as a "sub-frame". basiclly your rear frame (and front for that matter) is detachable from the rear completly. what happens in a rear end collision is that the sub frame will get either shifted (which is a somewhat easy fix) or bent (requiring replacment) but the rear struts and or housing, spindle, and other rear suspension parts can be bent as well. usually its not apparent until the subframe is replaced or put back into place.

your bumper is an illusion. what you actually see outside the car is nothing more than a bumper cover. whats underneath the cover is what you would be worried about. those are easy body parts that are fairly inexpensive to replace. if your trunk works then thats a good sign. looks like the bumper and subframe may have taken more of the hit.

be sure and tell the body shop that you wanna make sure your subframe is checked and replaced IF NEEDED! Body shops are usually on the side of the customer being that its the insurance company that pays for all of it and the body shop is going to try to get all the work they possibly can out of it. you have the absolute right to see IN WRITTING what the initial damage was assesed at. and then get another copy of what exactly was fixed. compare the 2 and see if there is anything left off. If you get your car back and it doesnt seem to drive the same way, as in it pulls left or right, it shakes a certain speeds or strange noises, then you need to take it back and have a further evaluation done.

keep in mind when dealing with all this, that the insurance company is going to try to get out of ANYTHING they possibly can. especially since the accident wasnt your fault and its the crazy lady's insurance that will be paying. But you are entitled to have your back in the exact same way you had it before the accident. dont be afraid to be a dick and demand excelence in the work you are about to recieve. If its not right. take it back!!

hope this helps. anything else you need. let me know
