Technically, Fighting games are considered the multiplayer offshoot of the Beat 'Em Up, which is what Viewtiful Joe and Ninja Gaiden can be considered to be. But they're not fighting games. >_>
 
"Smacking into a bottomless pit" sounds a hell of a lot like spiking to me, lol. My bad for misunderstanding, though.
