Project Soul wants to know your favorite characters!

Not quite. That has been resolved and people are free to used "Edge" in their names now, such as last year's Edge of Tomorrow. But still, I don't want that because Daishi was going to use it for his new direction before Namco vetoed.
Really?Odd i thought that was the reason.
Was it just because of 'Edge'? Iirc, i think it was similar to another game title, which had both 'soul' & 'edge' in it's title.I might be wrong tho.

But if it was just because of 'edge' , could've they've gone with Soul Blade II ? :>

Edge of Tomorrow could have had that title anyway because it wasn't related to videogames.

Then how do you explain Mirror's Edge?
EA had a stronger legal team, they petitioned the trademark out of Edge Games' hands. Edge lost their copyright because they were abusing the legal system, if you look around online you can find a fair bit about them trying to browbeat other companies into stopping using the word at all. It's like how the people that made Candy Crush Saga tried to get Banner Saga pulled for one word in the title.

At the time of Soul Blade, they didn't even really need to change the name. Edge already failed to get the copyright on "Soul Edge" pulled. Namco just changed the name to avoid further complications.
