My bet is we are almost done with new characters, may be a couple more remains only and one of them will be the boss. From now Its going to be mostly old characters. May be we will see a huge design development in some of them though.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we saw all the new characters on the first day.

Well, I wish I was wrong XDDD but until now every fighting game seems to have that kind of advertisement, they start with 2-3 new characters, then...almost everyone else is and old one.

Well, SCV had plenty of new characters. The catch was that these were new character that people didn't actually want.

I think people wants "new" what they don't want is new at the price of sacrificing/replacing old. People complains about younger versions of old characters but no one complains about actual new characters.

Also, I don't think people minds about palette swaps or mimics, what people hates is when gets palette swaps and mimics instead of actual characters. I mean, if in a roster 0f 30 characters then there is a couple of aditional palette swap characters, people is fine with it. But if in a roster of 30 characters 15 are palette swaps then people gets mad.
