Real talk though, it really depends on the guy. Some can pull it off very well, others can't. It definitely requires a lot of grooming, which is where most people fall short, but face shape, hair type, skin/hair color combination (light colored beard on dark skin looks weird as fuck, for instance), body type, thickness of facial hair, prominence of other facial features, and many other unrelated factors can make or break a beard.

It's easy to post pictures of hot guys who just happen to have beards and talk about how hot facial hair is, but then I could show you some disgusting Duck Dynasty piece of shit and suddenly it doesn't make sense anymore.

Beards are not hot. Hot guys are hot. A hot guy can pull off either look.

Potentially unpopular opinions warning; I've come to the conclusions that virginity as a social construct promotes shame [for either having/not having sex or by placing inordinate importance on ones first time] and that the concept of the friend zone needs to hurry up and die. Also, being single is ok. Being in a relationship is ok. Facial hair is ok. No facial hair is ok. Being slutty is ok. Not being slutty is ok.

This has been a PSA at 1:30am that may actually be more dickish than I think it is. I'll sleep on it.
