How young is too young to play sc4??

I hate it when my niece plays GTA, but I let her because I know she's seen worse or will play the game at someone else's house. If your child is mature enough to handle the subject matter, then what's the problem because eventually they will either see worse or play the game at a friend's house, so you might as well expose them to what they are able to handle and educate them on it.

A game like Soul Calibur is fine since to me the violence can be classified more as fantasy violence. The only concern would be those online who use foul language.

I'm tired of video games being the point of blame when no one blames the parents for their lack of parenting.

A lesson I learned long ago is don't tell other people how they should raise their children. More people need to do that. Just tell the haters to STFU if they question your parenting skills which you're probably doing already.

My question: Whats the opinion of the forum on how young is to young to let kids play this game. I personally dont think its a matter of age but a matter of maturity. My son seems to be mature enough to play this game no problem. i also let him play games such as Ninja gaiden, call of duty, tony hawk series (all of these games are way more violent in my opinion). I firmly believe that some kids or ok to play this game and some kids are not. I get most of the hate from people that dont have kids so those opions dont matter to me at all!

whats your take?
I'd disable the mic while he's playing online. If he starts hitting people with sticks, enroll him in a MA.

yeah i dont let him talk to the people. i keep the mic on my head. its funny that people get butt hurt when they figure out they got beat by an 8 yo! i dont let him go into the forums. I do have decorative ninja swords and chucks on the walls that he is facinated by, but he knows hes not allowed to touch them with out me around. He and I both are enrolled in bujinkan, google it, its taught he and i both a lot!!

im glad of the overwhelming response by the forum. I feel better knowing im doing the right thing!! thanx everyone!! But any other tips, game suggestions, or past experinces would love to be heard for us older gamers that have kids! and remember if you hear someone young playing on the other end of the mic....remember it could be my kid....worse yet...it could be yours (figurativly speaking or course)!!

Kinda funny. I'll occasionally bump into a guy on PSN, Spaggot. He's got a good Ivy, good Raph etc. He trades off with his 11yo. (Who mainly plays the an obnoxious CF focused Sigfried.) His kid's got incredible reflexes and good instincts all he really lacks is a developed mind game.

Nothing wrong with losing to a kid if they outplay you.
