Also, I think G.R.R.M was dropping Whitebeard hints in SoS book 1. Mormont was talking to Dany about him, and then said something like:

"In the Seven Kingdoms, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard serves on the King's council, to use his wits as well as his sword. That said, if I'm the first of you Queensguard, allow me to speak free 'bout yon whiteyface 'mon. Rasklart. 'Pon de floor meh lickle Queen, now kiss ye bad Johrer" and then they kissled, the end.

A Storm of Swords is only one novel in the US.

Also, I always assumed he was Barristan. It was one of his less fantawesomeandbythatimeantraumatizing reveals. New trailer:

Daario pledging dat curved arakh to his one and only...queen. Honestly, I was almost on board with blue-hair. And that guy isn't very cute and he isn't very masculine or muscular or ugh why. I hope he walks bowlegged with a swagger.

That's strange they'd show that in a trailer, but you never know. Stannis needs love too.
Don't they have a funeral for Hoster Tully? Or maybe they happeed to wear black and Lord Frey was cussing them out.

I don't like the lack of musculature on some of these characters. Jaime, Daario, Loras, Renly, even Stannis...c'mon HBO
