Hi all

Hi guys, I'm a new SC player and actually a Tekken player.

I'm italian and I bought today my copy of SC V persuaded by my friend that told me "this is a quite good alternative to Tekken".

I know the means of punishment, okizeme, sidestep, backdash (it's called like this even here in SC?) and so on.

I hope to learn more about this game with the purpose to compete at high levels.

I will go to read something about SC mechanics ;).

If I can I would like to ask you something: Can you give me a tier list? I would like to know which chars are good, which are godlike and something like that :).

I hope to have good time here. See you

For starters, just worry about finding your mains first. Once you do that, I'm sure we'll be able to answer your questions. Tiers are without a doubt inevitable, but sometimes it's not always tiers if you play a character a certain way.

Hope to see you around.

Hi thanks for your welcome.

What I meant with my question was that with a tier list I can see which character choose since the beginning (for now, at least) and make an idea about him during the practice mode and so on. It's not only a criteria to find my main but also a general wiew of you guys about the roster.

Mitsurugi is crazily powerful, but not exactly... exciting? Alpha Patroklos and Viola aren't easy to learn, but most people seem to agree they belong at the top. Devil Jin is definitely up there too. If you're just getting into the game, it's a lot more important that you find a character that you enjoy playing, I think.

This is still something of a taboo subject for Soulcalibur V, as there is no consensus about it amongst people that know the game well and everyone feels like they're entitled to forcing their opinions on everyone else regarding the matter...So instead, here's what happens and what (some)skilled players think of it. Have fun separating the actual, valid discussion from the trolling.

I think though, what you're looking for is how approachable a character is for a new player and what to expect from them. Some characters I recommend to give a shot:

Aeon: Simplest character in the game, has great movement, above average damage, and is superb at ring outs.

Ezio: Almost as simple as Aeon, but instead of combos focuses on counterhits for much of his damage.

Leixia: Offense-oriented, she attacks with great speed and with low risk but also low damage.

Mitsurugi: His attacks provide high risk, high reward mid/low/throw mixups but he can't combo as well as others. If his opponent predicts him, he also is likely to receive more damage.

Natsu: FAST. She moves fast, attacks fast, and can punish attacks at close range better than anyone else.

Patroklos: Overall great character, only weakness is relatively short range. Very good offense, not so much defense.

Pyrrha: Versatile character with good punishment.

Raphael: Great speed and range, but low damage.

Xiba: Great damage and range, but is weak at close range.
