After giving this new Devil may cry a chance I must say... this DMC feels like it is going to the DMC 2 route. Everything about it is sloppy and it doesnt help the fact that the battle system just doesnt feel fun? Maybe im judging too hard but the experience I had was terrible to the point I couldn't even finish the demo. I should go into detail but ill say this in short:

"This is not a DMC cry game as it tries to be DMC but not truly BEING DMC"

That is all. However, this is my opinion and you might enjoy it. Give it a shot maybe you will like it but as i played all 4 games i didnt like this new adaption at all.

Hmm, does anyone know why the series got a reboot it was pretty cool the way it was, the overall negative reception should let them have a idea that if the game didn't had the best game play so far it would be a big fail.
Anyway, do you think it is for DMC this game is like FF XIII to FF?

After playing the demo(highest available difficulties of course), my opinion also remains the same as before playing it: it's perfectly mediocre. Not bad, not great. It's genuinely fun. The grappling mechanics are excellent, I think, a good improvement over the ones present with Nero in DMC4 and they allow you to keep the pace of combat much higher more consistently(a good thing). The angel/demon weapons seems gimmicky at first, but it really feels like they thought its implementation out well with enemies that are only vulnerable to angel/demon/vanilla weapons forcing you to react and think carefully about both where you and your foes are.

My only complaints are the lack of being able to toggle & cycle the lock-on function and learning of the permanent SSS rank for missions upon 100% completion for missions. Both functions annoy me, but the lock-on mechanic isn't exactly vital and I can understand how the permanent SSS rank would be convenient for a lot of people(even if they are subhuman sheeple that should be severely punished for their terrible tastes that are so clearly inferior to mine).

I do feel obligated to nitpick one thing about the new Dante though: his jacket clearly sports a union jack yet he still sounds American. What's that all about?

With the Demo out i messed around with it and i think it's fine. Definitely wasn't DMC 2 bad, looking at you creator, but not anywhere near 3 fame. It's a little more straight forward and with the demo, no mechanics that felt hard. The game itself wasn't hard, on said difficulties, but who knows.
The actual fighting was fun though, more fun than i thought it'd be, and so i still intend on getting the game.

I am a DMC fan and always have been, and from the very beginning i've had no issue with this game. The new look doesn't matter, new team doesn't matter, none of this matters but the game itself. And so far it's kinda good so can't wait for the whole thing.

my thoughts exactly!.

i loved the combat, took me a while to figure it out and get used to it. it seems more fluid this time around being able to change weapons during combos instead of using the pad to change whole styles like in 3&4. haven't gotten parrying down yet, but it seems like it could be cool. evading is a little weird for me though, since my main evade has just been to jump in previous DMCs.

kinda hope vergil will be a playable character like in 3, seems kinda cool.
