As for the torrent question, i do believe in non-streaming anime so i do this a lot but there are a lot of good subs out there.

Static-subs, shinsen-subs, GG subs, Underwater, Unlimited Translation Works, Hatsuyuki... old Hatsuyuki anyway, Chihiro, WhyNot has been getting better.

Most of the stuff Subdesu, Commie, Shin-GX etc.. does is ok but the shows they choose are normally ASS so it doesn't really matter.
