Edit: by any chance do you mean Ichigo 100%? There was an anime on it once, but it flopped and I became disappointed since I liked it. But the manga of it was really good imho.

Ichigo 100% was ok but it didn't end, even with the OVAs nothing happened. There's also Ichigo Mashimaro which is great and Strawberry Panic! which is a lesbian love story anime.

@Vincent, Outlaw Star and Tenchi are also extremely popular and mainstream anime lol. Not really much of a switch from DBZ

As an SOL/Romance lover, I strongly recommend Kimi Ni Todoke. It's probably one of the best animes of 2011, and takes my top 3 spot in favorite animes of all time.
