What's Guard Impact, Brave Edge, Critical Edge and are there overheads/low combo starters in this game or is it just block high or low?

So there are two different inputs for throws in SC4 and SC5. Is there a visual effect that I can react to to know which throw is being used, or is a 50/50 guessing game the entire time?
