No, Firebrand really does not depend on meter. He has a lot of meterless stuff going for him. Pretty much all of his BS is meterless. Having meter just kind of adds to that. Same with Viper.

Well our opinions differ a lot. I do agree about Wesker being overrated but he his still pretty damn good. But having played firebrand like crazy with high level players i can assure you that hes on a whole other level with meter. Without meter, Firebrand has unsafe moves ( except Air bon voyage ) he also cannot combo from instant jump Light if hes not in luminous body form. Which is a HUGE difference. One thing he has is his particular flight which people don't seem to understand really well. He has some ugly set ups with his dive kick into flight i haven't really seen in tournament yet but Luminous makes all those set ups and tricks 10 times better. Luminous also makes certain moves,not just him, a lot faster frame wise ( especially fireballs) which is also a big plus. It gives him access to infinites etc.... and meter boosts his damage A LOT!!!!! Since his hyper does half of what he dishes as damage without it. Having played firebrand for more than 150 hours (yes i do play UMVC3 a lot), i simply cannot agree with you on this one.

Anyways i think that making a tier list is ridiculous right now. Nobody knows all the characters really well yet so i wont be pretentious and give a tier list yet. I think that nobody can really do this as of now.

Thanks. I was lookin for that post you made and got lost on SRK tryin to refind it! Right now I'm playing with my options after landing b+H. Right now Taskmasters best BnB is off the b+H relaunch, not the swings. So I'm testing if I can find something better with assists and b+H>Sting master. I'm close too the damage, but not quite there yet. My idea is to do LMH>b+H>StingMaster, cap assist, otg, air loops. etc...

One thing I do love about this team is 2 meters with any characters is 900k+ with just solo BnB into DHCs. So hoping with assist I'll be hitting over 1mil off 2 meters, making all 3 characters touch of deaths in most scenarios.


So really dirty set ups with Task...In corner Sword Master is SCARY. b+H, call Akuma, Sword Master M (HMH, QCFH), call Cap, OTG arrow, land, MH(shield returns), basic aerial rave... Basically a free 500k any time your enemy block a b+H in the corner...and you can't advance guard it! Even more the timing is EASY!

I'm also working on set ups where i call cap assist to drag them away from the corner so i can hop over them and combo, but sometimes the hit boxes get weird and i can't cross up with j.H or j.S. Still I can land and i think im safe, it's just a lil more obvious.

Yeah i do agree about Swordmaster. Its such an underated move. Glad to see your using the pull from cap assist also. its pretty good with Zero making what appears to be a normal jump attack a cross up since the shield pulls back the opponent making him pass under you as you do j.C or j.S :D I love Zero XD

Watch videos of Chrisis' team (Viper/Firebrand/Strider). you'll see what I'm talking about. He very rarely goes into Luminous Body from what I recall, and still does some really gross BS.
 
Can somebody clear this up for me - are there any other combos I need to know with Doom for practical purposes aside from the Buktooth Loop and corner loop with lv.1 and 3 variants? Because if so, I'll start learning some resets (If anybody could suggest a few to try out after answering my first question, it would be very much appreciated. =))
 
I know pretty well the player. He has a good Viper. His Firebrand isn't that impressive sorry actually if he didn't rely on gimmicks with his unblockable and Viper hard tag BS, he would be a lot better. Every time i see him do some damage he popped luminous body. Anyways like i said you clearly don't use firebrand since your just telling me look at chrisis use......things???or in simpler words you bring NO argument about your statement. Me, iv'e been maining Firebrand for more than a month. I played tons of games with him, online, offline, in tourneys here. I'm not saying he sucks as a point i'm saying he his FAR BETTER in second and then your telling me im wrong and propose me to check out someone who play's him in second and gets bodied by Shady K like my 16 year old sister would. With all respect, i do think you have a good knowledge of the game but not of Firebrand. Firebrand is far better with meter which is why even Chrisis puts him second and gets bodied by Shady K all night long lolll. Just look at how Shady K deals with his gimmicks in TNT GF. Felicia destroyed Chrisis by herself. Firebrand is not as bad as people think but people MADLY over hype the use of his unblockable and the rest of his """GIMMICKS""".



Edit: I hope i'm not sounding rude or anything but i like discussing about UMVC3 which i do like a lot. Just making sure we understand each other about this :D
