Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Zero is the only top tier character among that spread. Possibly Dormmamu too. The characters/teams we're seeing work in tournament right now are just really easy to use. Give the game some time to evolve, and I guarantee that the players who dedicate their time to use the higher execution/more elaborate strats will be the ones winning. And Vergil is a character that will take a bit of time to break open to his full potential, let alone for players to get good with him. He's top 5 from where I stand, and at worst I see him as top 8.

Chris G. is never going to get anywhere with Firebrand if he doesn't have a team that allows Firebrand to take advantage of his cheap stuff. He should just play Hawkeye/Ryu/(any other character besides Firebrand). Or build a team around Firebrand. Either way works.

I do agree that Zero is pretty strong in this game. But i absolutely do not agree about only him being top tier in this list. Now i do think that this game is far more mixups and resets oriented and Zero excels at that. He his the best battery in the game as of now and doesn't have a lot of weakness besides his low health. However being fast and versatile isn't the only thing the makes a character really good. Zero has really poor assists compared to a lot of the other ones mentioned. I do think that wesker is top tier. Not broken as people say but hes definitely really good. W0lvy is also really good in this game. Doom is a tough one. He has a lot of problems dealing with people super jumping back from him but he has really good assist and his gun is far more useful. He builds meter like crazy and dishes out a lot of damage for anywhere on screen.
As for Vergil he his really good.......with assists. Hes a shenanigan character. If you have good reactions you can pretty much block everything he dishes out at you. As long as your able to react to his teleports and his slash move which crosses up that i don't know the name yet.

I was really hoping for Shady K to be there( in top 16) since i LOVE Felicia. She is so good in this game. Her delta kick being +10 on block and sand splash OTG really helped her offensive game a lot. I do think she is really strong.
As for firebrand all those unblockables shenanigans are pretty useful but if you play against good players they usually already know ways to deal with it. ( Firebrand, Skrull, Morrigan being an exception since its so god damn cheap ) I do love firebrand and think hes really good but like Cosmic said you need the right team to make firebrand work. Besides that i personnaly think that Chris G plays firebrand like shit anyways. I do disagree with Cosmic on the idea of making him the point character since Firebrand depends A LOT on meter. Luminous body and his lv 3 make him horribly strong compared to his normal state and he gains meter even in luminous while also having access to a totally safe and comboable instant overhead. I like to play FB second with a good blockedstun lockdown or ground lockdown assist.

IM saying all this since one of my teams is Zero ( hadangeki), Firebrand(Swoop), Strange(Eye of Agamato ) and the other one being Felicia ( slide ), Cap(Shield Slash), Task(vert arrow) Firebrand and Strange work wonders together and everything DHC to everything in the team. Team hyper does a lot too which makes firebrand really more viable for dealing damage. Zero builds meter like crazy for firebrand to abuse it with strange providing him lots of blockstun with eye of agamato.

Any combo or set up suggestions for Cap(shield)/Task(vert)? I'm in the lab playing with them and finding fun stuff, but there's so much to do with the 2 I wanna see what other people are doing

As i said in earlier post try( with Task) doing instant overhead j.B, j.C, j.S, land, Call cap, j.B, j.C, j.S, land, (second hit of shield hits) j.B, j.C, j,S , ABC f+C into rest of your BNB. Its a pretty good combo extender with those two. For the rest i mainly use Vert arrows to give vertical space to Cap so he can TK light shield slash. Its pretty useful for making charging star safe on block if you wanna mount an offense with less to no risk. With Cap,you can also call assist then jump light shield slash, backflip into either low or jump or double jump cross ups shenanigans.

Something i really like about Vert arrow is the delay for the arows to come down. If shield slash hits it gives you extra time to wave dash for full combo since the arrows will combo :D

Thanks. I was lookin for that post you made and got lost on SRK tryin to refind it! Right now I'm playing with my options after landing b+H. Right now Taskmasters best BnB is off the b+H relaunch, not the swings. So I'm testing if I can find something better with assists and b+H>Sting master. I'm close too the damage, but not quite there yet. My idea is to do LMH>b+H>StingMaster, cap assist, otg, air loops. etc...

One thing I do love about this team is 2 meters with any characters is 900k+ with just solo BnB into DHCs. So hoping with assist I'll be hitting over 1mil off 2 meters, making all 3 characters touch of deaths in most scenarios.

So really dirty set ups with Task...In corner Sword Master is SCARY. b+H, call Akuma, Sword Master M (HMH, QCFH), call Cap, OTG arrow, land, MH(shield returns), basic aerial rave... Basically a free 500k any time your enemy block a b+H in the corner...and you can't advance guard it! Even more the timing is EASY!

I'm also working on set ups where i call cap assist to drag them away from the corner so i can hop over them and combo, but sometimes the hit boxes get weird and i can't cross up with j.H or j.S. Still I can land and i think im safe, it's just a lil more obvious.

Health isn't what makes characters good, so that's not even a weakness for Zero. Wesker is not top tier either. My top tier is only 5 characters, 3 of which are undisputed (Viper, Dante, and Zero). The other contenders I have down are Strider, Vergil, Dormammu, and Firebrand. Wesker isn't top tier, just top 10-top 15. I know Wolverine's still good, I mained him for all of MvC3.0 (Dropped him and Doom for Viper and Vergil), and the little I've played of him in Ultimate hasn't felt any different from 3.0. Doom and Felicia are of course really good (top 10-top 15) as well.

And if Vergil is a shenanigans character, then so is Wesker. Except Vergil's better than Wesker in pretty much every way.
No, Firebrand really does not depend on meter. He has a lot of meterless stuff going for him. Pretty much all of his BS is meterless. Having meter just kind of adds to that. Same with Viper.
