Hate Speech: A Seasonal Feast

Agree on all accounts. I've always said SC2 was a "game of 5 moves". It is hugely overrated, probably cuz it was pretty easy at low-mid level, since, well, anybody can learn to spam 5 moves. There also weren't a lot of variety as how to deal with those safe, damaging mids or frameadvantage lows. With stepG being that good and 2G effectively rendering GI nearly useless technique.
I had my time with SC2, it was also the game that got me into fightings but the only thing it suceeded in was novelty and decent balance (which isnt necessarily a good thing (btw http://shoryuken.com/2011/11/25/5-reasons-why-you-shouldn’t-worry-about-balance/)

Finally, someone important on 8WR tells the truth about sc2. I'm sick and tired of irrational fanboy nostalgia for that game.

To be fair, the game does bring back warm and fuzzy memories for me too, but that's ONLY because it was my first SC.

Hindsight is NOT always 20/20. Sc2 fanboyism is a lot like my grandpa talking about "the good ol' days" like everything was peachy in 1960, while completely ignoring (or ignorant if you prefer) everything that's better about today's world. (He thinks computers and cell phones are the devil's work)

People do the same shit with SC. Some people even say Sc1 was the best, I just laugh, HARD.

Face it folks, 3 and 4 are superior to sc2.

SC3 would have been better than 2, if not for VC. There were enough strong characters that could potentially win a tourney, and the overall mechanics were solid. VC fucked everything up. SC3 arcade was amazing and proved that with minor fixes, it could be a better game than SC2.

SC4 was slower, more sluggish, and loldoomcombo. It's not even in the discussion, imo.
