Umm, i think you guys are misunderstanding something...and i think i was too general with my first post too.
Im talking about the music that is targeted at high school kids. Im not talking about clubs, rather, high school dances and college house/frat parties. I can dig clubs.
Music isn't created to appeal to any sort of "targeted audience." (Kid's Bob and Disney stuff excluded mind you.) Music, like art or literature is a cultural expression. It is the artist take on what is happening in the world around them regurgitated as an art form. Whether their noting starving kids in Africa or the amazing butt gratifying abilities of apple bottom jeans music is created to get across it's creator's intended message or feeling. So saying that there isn't any "good music" anymore or that "today's" music "sucks" is frankly closed minded. Who's to say that sex, getting wasted, or girls aren't important enough to be song material? That is like saying why this panting of a flower is much better than this painting of a rock because the flower has more color. Art, in all its forms shows us who we are before we know who we are and if you limit your exposure with your personal preference and expectations your missing the reason that art exist in the first place.
