Ah... gaming producer and movie producer are similar and different... also you're evaluation is a little off. Your listed producer is what is the "executive producer" for either or. For gaming, the producer is the guy that assembles the team, keeps them working on schedule, irons out the spec, etc., etc. The director handles the actual direction (execution of the finer details).

I agree that I could be cause for concern and people should unify their voice accordingly. But, personally, I'm not that concerned myself.
Also, I want to point out that the bad balance decisions of AE were not made for the reasons you're speculating... what Ono said what he made certain characters buff to get people to play them, not because balance is boring. Chess or Go are perfectly balanced and nobody finds either boring. I think all people who design competitive games need to remember that.
