Transformers 2 aka T2:ROFL!

This post made me roll my eyes/sigh/groan so many times, I felt like highlighting them all.

Hm Im a little late posting on this thread but I just saw the movie and I can safely say that I thought it was a crazy waste of money and very very stupid. However the movie did not dissapoint me because im actually good friends with Engared and he hyped it down so much (that correct English?) that the movie was actually slightly better than id expected. Il give my review fairly briefly before I make a point that's hopefully gonna make this post worth reading.

Pros: Optimus. I have to admit having the original voice actor play him again was a good idea and his voice was very cool. That one scene where he fought off 3 deceptacons while protecting Laboofe was a direct rip off of Tim Burtons King Kong (Optimus was even a gorilla in beast wars) but I dont think thats a bad thing because complaints aside this was a cool scene.
Megan Fox. Alot of people say shes over rated and Engared goes as far as saying he wouldnt fuck her because of toe Thumbs. I dissgaree with both of these statements and think she is hot as hell :).
As much as im NOT a Linkin Park fan I actually think the TF2 theme is kinda cool. Also when the background music it played during the movie... Yeeah It created a almost epic feel. Well as epic as it could get without being brought down by the movies stupidity.

Cons: BLATANT continuity errors! 5 deceptacons go down under water and the submarine detects 5 objects going down. 1 deceptacon sacrifices himself to bring back megaton and the sub detects 6 objects comming up, 5-1+1=6!? whatever Micheal Bay!
That one scene where Laboor and bumblebee crash through a warehouse roof to be greeted by megatron and all. After this the after mentioned fight takes place and in no time at all their in a forest with nothing industrial behind them. When they crashed through the roof while they were in the sky no forest was visible.... Oh I didnt know they could teleport too??
Stupid dialog, too much non funny commic releif, IDC about human characters and all the other shit thats aready been mentioned.

Now the point I wanted to make was this. I see alot of you arguing for the movie with statements like "Micheal Bay did what he could with some toys from the 80s what do you expect?" ect ect.
I genuinely dont think that a movies source material instantly determines whether a movie is good or not. Its based on transforming Robots from out of space. Thats original and out there stuff I really think there could have been an intriguing story behind this. Just because said story would involve suspension of disbelief it doesn't mean said story doesn't have to exist!

Did you guys know that the godfather the novel was never very highly regarded? Coppola makes it into a movie script and turns it into one of the most highly regarded movies of all time. The Show Seinfeld premise was 'a show about absolutely nothing' and its very highly regarded. The Dark knight, another example is a movie based on comics of a guy who dresses in a batsuit and fights crime. In fact same goes for any good super hero movies. At a glance the concept is unrealistic and stupid and yet we as an audience can totally sympathies with the characters on screen in some cases. Story's dont need to be realistic to be good at all! Stanley Kubrick did the Shinning which was a part of the 'slasher' franchise. A Franchise that's forever been looked down upon by critics and this movie was a masterpiece of suspense. Alien and Aliens were about killer aliens from outter space and they still managed to be totally original movies!

So in summation I think you guys are all setting your standards way to low. Is it that unreasonable to expect more from a movie that cost hundreds of millions of dollars? Could they not have hired a decent script writer for it? WTF!? and its not like the movie has to be simple to cater for the kids either! Alot of the jokes are way below the belt and are Skid and Mudflap really a good way to introduce kids to Urban dialect? Fuck off!

Lets also talk a bit about fan service as im sure alot of you 20-somthings (myself included) loved the cartoons in the 80s and 90s. Alot of the autobots and deceptacons who did play big parts in the cartoon had about 1 line of dialog each! Now lets compare this to the amount of time Micheal Bay Opted to spend on Shy's 1st day of Uni. Can any of you TF fans honest to god tell me that you would rather watch Shy's mum walk around Campus stoned than have extra dialog between your favourite robots from the cartoons? Not only were these scenes totally irrelevant (and stupid and unfunny IMO) but they could have used this time to actually give the movie a plot and the robots some personality! Millions of dollars and valuable screen time wasted on totally irrelevant shit! No true fan can say that this was for the best!

Micheal Bay did not do a good job with the material he had! He took some reasonably silly material and turned it into a total fucking mess and a waste of money ad time! His only decent movie IMo is 'the Island' and he even managed to turn a movie with an interesting take on cloning into more of a 5th element style action movie than a new age gattaca.

As some of you may have realized some of what ive said has already been said (I think the same so im not stealing opinions) so here's My reference http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/797-Transformers-Revenge . Check out this guys other reviews he is quiet good IMO.

Peter Cullen playing Optimus Prime is not new. Optimus Primal in Beast Wars was a different character. Tim Burton has never touched King Kong. The Shinning is the title of the Simpsons' spoof of The Shining. Slasher movies are a genre, not a franchise. The Shining is not a slasher movie. Transformers 2 was written by the same guys who did the recent Star Trek reboot: the problem was constraints, not talent. If a G1 character had only one line: they weren't a major character, they were cannon fodder. What fans are you yelling at over the pot brownie scene? Nobody liked that scene. The Fifth Element and Gattaca came out the same year, eight years before The Island. I don't know what kind of chronological, stylistic influence/contrast chain you're trying to paint, but it sounds like you're saying that Bay skillfully avoided making a "new age" remake of a futuristic movie that wasn't old enough to look dated yet.

wtf are you a journalist proof reading my post? or a forum troll? My point isnt lost in your corrections man I think you wasted alot of time.

Just thought I'd mention it's not Burton who you're thinking of in respect to Kong but the director of the LOTR trilogy, Peter Jackson. Any other corrections are unnecessary as they detract from your point which is

"The movie sucked, the screenplay was whack and Bay is a hack. But that said, you can forgive some of the cheezier action sequences and you love Megan Foxx"

For the record she's way overrated and movie bob is pretty entertaining to watch but man does they guy seem to HATE halo for some reason.

I think you wasted alot of time.

Says the guy who rambled for nine paragraphs about a movie that was dissected to death in early July.

My point isnt lost in your corrections

You're both right. Once the essay seemed to find the ancient, regurgitated point it was looking for, that point was spot-on, undeterred by all the facepalm-worthy stops along the way.

I said YOUR and I meant YOUR. There was no missing word and no need for a vain attempt at correcting what wasn't broken. Now if you could delay from being an asshole for a minute I think the fact of the matter is, his opinion, no matter how regurgitated it may be, is still his opinion and a perfectly valid one even if he's late to the party. I didn't know there was a statute of limitations on SUCK.

I'm sorry if you happen to love the movie and you were hoping to avoid any further slings and arrows against it, but you're gonna have to get used to them when it comes out on dvd and it's suckage comes up on a perennial basis. Like in the following scenario: "Hey man you wanna watch transformers two?" "Hell nah that movie sucked!" As for the face-palm worthiness, some of that's real and some of that you have completely imagined. He wasn't trying to establish any kind of parallel universe chronology just trying to say that Bay went the shallower way.
