1. Jadakiss the guys charisma and wordplay is just too dam good with a raspy voice complete monster.

2. Jay-Z He could be 1 i just like jada better.

3. Bigge grew up on him he was ahead of his time i think certainly showed the young cats such as myself how to get that money.

4. Nas the poet for everyone.

5. Raekwon this guy never gets the credit for how great he is.

Honorable mention AZ & Rakim

1: Big Pun. Boricua. yessir.

2: tie big and 2pac. i got to give it to big for the slight edge. simply because biggie was a performer. 2pac was a great rapper. listen to his stuff when you want to think about somethings.. want to dance, want to get in a party mood... biggie was where you needed to be listening.

3: Jay Z. reasonable doubt.

4: Lil wayne. mainly for the carter 2.. but this man is a fucking monster. when he conscious... his shit can make you laugh, do double takes and make you question his lyrics. and fuckin ey... his shit varies so fuckin much i can't tell if he has a ghost writer or if he's actually making the shit up himself. Just a little fun tidbit about this man.. listen to his joints.. he is one of the few rappers out there today that can get away with doing a 4-5 minute song without a hook.

5: fuck.. another tie. Budden, Joel Ortiz, Lupe

and because it's relevant and had me laughing..

1: Notorious B.I.G: G.O.A.T

2: Wu-Tang (as a collective): Moment i heard Wu-Tang aint nuthin to fuck with, I knew they were going to be some of my favorites. Simple, effective repetitive beats laced with lyrical bullets, fired at 90BPMs. An all-star team without equal. They really should be given more respect than they are currently getting.

Examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl6jwab3HWk

3: Tupac: Liked his old stuff like "I get around" much more than for example "Hit em up", but still...From California Love to Brenda's Got a Baby, this guy produced so many classics, you couldn't count them with 10 sets of hands. He was one of the few who could take an old pop song and make it better (Kanye makes his living doing something similar but don't ever include him in the same sentence as Tupac).

Examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl6jwab3HWk

4:Big Pun: He wasn't fat, was just full of beats. Only recently started listening to him, but from what i've heard, this guy is an iron wordsmith. Great flow, terrific pace and a very strong voice.

Examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl6jwab3HWk

5: Eminem: Only one on the list who is still relevant in today's market. I have to put him here cause if it wasn't for Real Slim Shady playing on the bus while on my way back home, all the way back in 2000; i would still be listening to Pop music. The white boy always had great delivery and though some of his choice of material could be improved (rapping about Hailey for the 1000th time), his persona, lyrics and most of all flow, are still shinning beacons in this dark time for Hip-Hop.

Special mentions to Ice Cube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqmH493JEpA), Coolio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EvCSAMUrcY), Shock G (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs), DMX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs), Dr.Dre (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs), Kurtis Blow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs) , Beastie Boys (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs) , Run DMC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs) , Young Snoop Dog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs), Nasty Nas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs) , do the Fugees count ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj9_yW8tZxs )?

I think Lil Wayne is a terrible rapper. After Fireman, lollipop and Make it Rain...my impression of him is beyond repair. Autotuned hack imho. Listening to Drop the World atm and Enimen is killing him on his own song. Lol. Pathetic. Hip-Hop is dead. RIP.

in no particular order here
