So there's a thread like this in the Siegfried forum so I though I'd start one here. Basically, what's your reason for picking Sophie as your main? Her punishment potential/power? Simple but effective playstyle? Or maybe you just have a thing for digital Greek MILFs. Granted, Sieg's my main but I feel I'm as good with either him or Sophie. Also, it seems to be a subconscious thing, but more often than not I main or start out using the blond characters in fighting games: Guile/Cammy in Street Fighter, Terry/Andy in King of Fighters, and Sophie/Siegfried in Soul Calibur...it's weird.
I've played the series ever since it was Soul Blade on the PS1 (Soul Edge on arcade) and I liked her versatility and stayed with her ever since. Who would have thought that a small, innocent Greek girl would make her mark in a game with veteran samurais, possessed knights and demon-killing ninjas. She allows you to be equally effective offensively or as more of a turtle if that's your thing, and she's stayed a solid character throughout SC.
Sophie is one of those characters who is easy to learn but a little harder to use effectively. Her lack of mix-ups and oki are almost balanced out by her arsenal of safe powerful moves (236236B:4, 4B+K for example), just take down the power a veeerrry small amount and she'll be a warrior truly worthy of the gods.
