Hello! Not entirely new to Soul Calibur, but kinda new to the 8wayrun forums, albeit having had an account here for a long period of time, I've never really used it. Till' now, at least.

So, as you probably can tell from the title, then I'm a Nightmare player. And since I'm nicknamed Shela, and having frequented the 8wayrun twitch stream chat for a while and chatted with the people there, incidently, I somehow ended up with an alternative nickname; Shelamare. Happa

I'm not exactly a veteran player, having only just rounded 1000 matches, far the most of them being as Nightmare. It's safe to say that I can't play any other character than him, although I've considered delving into a secondary or two. I also suck at most matchups. Long way for me to go, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

I'm a European player, who's done what I can, to get my connection as much up to speed as possible. I've got 100mb internet, so I can play with people far away from Europe in an as good connection as possible, although a little delay can still be felt when I play people outside of Europe. Curse the distance. :c

Anyway, that's just a few random words about myself. I'm not really much of a forum-goer, although I'll try to hang around here, and just thought I'd say hello!
 
Oh, so you're just going to be all mysterious and not tell us what part of Europe, are you? Fine, be that way! Actually, you're not the first.

I have about 4000 matches to my credit after starting about a year ago and definitely know where you're coming from, as even that's nothing compared to players who've been with the series the whole way through and have all those years of matchup knowledge and familiarity with each characters' moves to draw upon. It makes each match against a really experienced player a steep uphill battle, but that's actually part of the fun.

You'll definitely find that Nightmare and Siegfried have quite a bit in common when you start trying out some other characters. Tira might also be a good choice for the more villainous inclined.
 
Villainous inclined... You might just be spot-on. I've usually had a better eye to a villain. Tiers doesn't really play a role for me.

And if you must know, then I'm from Denmark. I don't see it THAT relevant, since my connection is roughly the same to any European with a decent connection. It's not like I'm trying to hide it :V
 
Oh, I meant to say villainously, not villainous, but you seemed to get the idea. And no I didn't really need to know, of course. :p I was just giving you a hard time because I think it's kind of funny when people introduce themselves as from "Europe" when Europe is such a big, diverse place.

I wish there more I could do for my own connection at home. A lot of the USA gets stuck with crappy connections because that's all that's available, thanks to old networks that the telecom companies haven't gotten around to upgrading since it wouldn't be sufficiently profitable (yay capitalism!) So, count your blessings. Despite the distance and my awful connection, I can often get 3 bars with my Polish friend. With my friend in France, it ranges from night to night from surprisingly good to horrible and unable to stay connected for more than 30 seconds. And don't even get me started on when I'm playing someone from New Zealand... From what you say it sounds like you should at least be able to get a very good connection with all those French and UK players out there.
