The great fight of the 360 and PS3

Arguing this is dumb. Graphics don't matter at all, it's all in the gameplay. Both systems have plenty of good games, and all the good fighting games are multiplatform anyway. I just got the 360 because it's cheaper and all my friends have it and Xbox live, if I had a PS3 I wouldn't be able to play any of my real life friends online. Even though I do like the PS3 pad better for fighters, hopefully the SFIV pad madcatz is coming out with will be good.

Good thing you didn't mention the Wii. I used to be the biggest nintendo fanboy ever. Right up until the wii came out. My most played games on the wii are GGXX^C and after that a bunch of gamecube games like melee, RE4, random RPG's, and SCII. Whenever nintendo disappointed me, I would justify my purchase of the wii by saying "at least brawl will be amazing"... then it came out and it sucked. Oh well, good thing there's still a booming melee tournament scene where I live... Nintendo is pretty much abandoning it's fan base of real gamers by appealing to casuals... And is making a TON of money off of it.

Its been long enough that there are good options out there for a 360 stick if you want one, so that isn't really an issue anymore. More people have 360s and get sticks for them because that is the only console they own.

That doesn't matter

PS2 was the tournament standard for the last generation. So most of the people who have gone to the tournaments in the past, and probably most of the people that run them have PS2 sticks.

So their choice is between buying new sticks, or buying cheap converters.

and to my knowledge it's easier to convert 360 sticks for use on PS3 than vice versa. So even the xbox only people you mention aren't left out.

I'm almost completely certain most major tournament organizers will go with PS3 over 360. There really isn't any good reason not to.

This generation of consoles has been an utter disappointment for me. Wii is garbage. 360 hardware problems. PS3 not enough game selection and weak online model. Most gamers have to be willing to pay a base price of $1000 not including accessories just to play every game they want across all consoles. That's like buying 3 separate brands of DVD players because not a single one plays movies from all the movie studios. How nonsensical is that?

The gaming industry will eventually get its head out of it's ass and have a standard. But until then we're all stuck paying out the ass for proprietary accessories, DRM-ridden online "purchases", and being at the mercy of whichever side of a three-sided coin you flipped that you pray isn't an epic fuckup. I hate you, Sony. I hate you, Nintendo. I hate you, Microsoft.

I love you, GameStop. I buy used. Maybe the industry will finally get a damn hint.
