The game and Story, Two things that can't be split nowadays?

As much as i love video games and story, i always tend to that video games shouldn't really have story in it, but today as video games grow more games have a story as an element, i still remember the game that i used to play like "milk and nuts", "tetris","pong", and many more didnt have much story in it. And when i take a look at the wiki, it's revealed that even milk and nuts have a story.

WHat i want to discuss now, is it really important for a game to have a story nowadays?
 
It depends on the type of game. Having at least a basic story such as "aliens are attacking!" is usually helpful.
