Mario Kart 8: Who will be your mains?

I haven't got a Wii U yet but as a guy who grew up with nintendo and loves some of their franchises like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Metroid or Zelda i think i will get one eventually.

From what i've seen my favourite characters will be Shy Guy (light), Iggy (medium) and DK (heavy).
I don't know if there are small stat-differences between the characters like in Mario Kart Wii but i hope they are so small that they are almost irrelevant in casual play.

Which characters will you use the most?

Not too sure. In Mario Kart Wii I would play everyone and I don't know all the characters in Mario Kart 8 yet. So couldn't say for sure.
