First play on Soul Calibur

Sorry if this has been posted before or should be posted somewhere else :/

I remember I walked inside EBgames & the gamecube was running a fighter game (hence Soul Calibur II) I was watching the two guys play against each other & decided to wait in line to play. My first pick was Link & I did pretty good. That's when I decided to buy the game for my PS2 not knowing Link wasn't gonna be playable. (During that time I didn't know about special guests or anything about SC)

So I was bummed out when I got home but moved on and picked another character. I always pick a female character, mainly because females in general are underestimated in SOCIETY (IMO) and I like to prove them wrong by picking a female character & beating their ass >:D I played as Talim and liked her alot, then I picked every other female character. But it was until I got to Ivy when I knew that she was the character I wanted to beast with & learn everything about. I also played as Setsuka & Cervantes but Ivy was my most comfortable character.

My bro and I spent countless battles on both II & III. My "friends" at the time didn't play fighters, which was a major bummer because that meant I only played against my bro, which can get old at times. So I was hoping in SCIV that it would have an online mode. Sure enough it did. In the beginning, I was a noob with Ivy. I made the mistake of not practicing enough with Ivy's new moves, & quickly hopped online. But after I dedicated some time to practice with Ivy, I was back in the game :) Now your story :D

Played Mitsurugi on a Soul Edge arcade machine back in '96 at Six Flags. Got it when it came out for PS1 and played the shit out of it. I saw images of a new game called Soul Calibur when I did a search for Soul Edge/Blade sequel in the school library right before I graduated in '98. The new characters looked cool, except for that weird Elvis looking guy. Went off to Georgia State and when I saw they had this newfangled Soul Calibur at the Underground ATL arcade, I was eager to try it out. I surprised at this groundbreaking new movement system but I kept getting my ass handed to me by some Nightmare player. I immediately fell in love and eventually got pretty good at it. I could beat everyone in the ATL area till I crossed paths with Fetz and Joon(sp?). Humbling, lol. Even though Soul Edge/Blade was my first, SC1 is still my favorite. The sense of movement, speed, damage, weight, character design (except for that Elvis guy)....*sigh*.

Back when I was young, I used to play fighting games (and video-games in general) a lot. It was still when arcades were about. Though we had consoles all the time, we would only get new games for special occasions. Still, there was an actual arcades/candy store right on my corner (Mrs. Doors' store) that would keep all the latest arcade cabinets (which were mostly fighting games). Because of this, I naturally loved fighting games.

Either way, back when we were still close to my father and his side of the family, we would visit his mother's about every other week or so (she only lived about a mile away) and every now and then my uncle would bring his system out and let us play on it. One day, he brought it out with Soul Blade and I just remember me and my brothers grinding it out and that damned game (Rock's last weapon was fuckin' broken!). After that, I fell in love with the series. Been playing ever since.

Okay history again? I'll bite and ramble offtopic a whole lot. Forgive me.

First play was soul edge. I messed around with everyone. But most times I'd use Siegfried and Taki. Siegfried back then was sorta cool and he sounded like Link from Zelda. Coincidentally, he still is done by the same voice actor who did Link of Zelda. Which I found out afterwards. He's still cool now, but SCII shifted my favorite male character attention. As for females, Taki and Seong Mi-na were neck and neck. I liked Taki a whole lot more due to her obvious looks.

When Soul Calibur 2 came out(didn't play SCI), I was intrigued to hear Link was in it. But I was more interested in a Tekken character I grew up and knew about , Yoshimitsu. I was very excited to see what's he like in here. The minute I finally picked him, was the birth of me converting from casual fan to hardcore Yoshi fan due to his appealing attitude as a character. The females I picked a whole lot were Taki and the occasional Seong Mi-na. Back then in terms of chicks I liked, I must of had 10000+ hard-ons playing Taki because of those boobs and how she spoke. But I did keep an eye on Seong Mi-na as the mellow chick you'd want to take it easy with. Other I used characters that were more awesome imho in SCII were Nightmare, Mitsurugi, Xianghua, Talim, Raphael, and Yun-Seong.

Anyways, SCIII finally hit shores and I was a full fledged Yoshi fan with a side of Nightmare. Anyone else was bonus 'side dishes I enjoyed'. As for females, my usage of Taki started to dwindle a bit imho. I still love her and will always forever love her, but Seong Mi-na reached absolute peak of beauty in this game. Good god, her 2p in SCIII was so beautiful on her. And call me a weeaboo if you wish, but I absolutely loved her cute Japanese voice when she spoke. The other girls were cool, but I loved Seong Mi-na's 2p costume here.

When SCIV came out, not much changed except I was just scrubbing around and being the typical online scrub with Yoshi, Nighty and a few others. As time went by, I played this out of all installments at a "Super good" level compared to the previous ones. Before, I would always get trouble from my bros Sophie and Kilik. Now, I practically make him not want to play me in this game(thanks 8wayrunners ^^;). But as of now, I finally settled down and stuck with Yoshi, shift all of my attention from Taki(still love you though) to now Seong Mi-na, and enjoyed everyone else as great extras. But I will say that in this series, it felt a bit meh in atmosphere in terms of story

SCV? I just hope Yoshi makes the cut. If not, oh well. I'll definitely try out that new ninja chick as my new main and find another guy to main and make him the new Pocky Warrior. As for Mi-na? I will miss her dearly.
