    Mortal Kombat (2011)

I'm wondering, how well would that MK stick work with SoulCal or Arcana right now?

Some games aesthetics age better then others. I felt the aesthetics of MK dropped heavily after 2. 3 ruined the series for me. 9 looks like mostly a return to 2, and the MK3 chars do look less cheesy. I did kinda like MK4 in the arcade though.

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

How old are you? Not taking that as an insult, but I've noticed that hype for this game seems to be mostly with the older crowd, those guys who remember the older games. New-school gamers seem to be very antihype, probably cause they only remember shitty MK. Also, the MK aesthetic is not...

One reason our community is awesome:

This makes all the FG communities look bad. There needs to be zero tolerance for this sort of shit.

I expect those to be fixed, but I expect some other char to have similar crap, though I expect that to get patched out, hopefully before EVO. I want MK9 to be the biggest game at EVO.

BTW there is cancelling into specials, whether it's worth it outside of hit is another matter.

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

I'm going to get this game- it can't be worse then Marvel (yeah, I can be a hater too ^_^) That said, I am also getting AH3- I figure between the two of them, at least one will be good. If only we could combine the two somehow- and then put Mami from Madoka Magica in as a guest character- I'd...

Best Fighting Game Except Soul Calibur

Question- why do AH fans find the game better then Arc fighters? Any particular reason in general.

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

Nearly every game says they want to be competitive- how many actually pull it off?

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

They've announced the build that is the demo is a couple months old, and they've fixed some infinites since then. I don't expect this game to be super-competitive, but it has to be less broke then Marvel.

Who was your first fighting game character?

Galford in SamSho 1. That was a mistake.

so missing Cage's XRay counter does drain his meter? That's going to hurt him.

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

I think it was said somewhere that the MK devs already have fixed a Sub-Zero infinite blockstring, and a Mileena infinite. I am worried about this game, but if they don't screw it up it will be awesome. My guess is this game will be good after patching, but it may not be given a chance because...

KI was the first fighting game I played that I didn't like. That's what I remember it for.

    Worst Fighting Game Boss Ever

Seth. Not hard to beat, but such a lame and unfun character- and then they made it worse by making him playable. In terms of boss fight- Igniz.

    Mortal Kombat (2011)

I'm willing to wait that extra week. I figure if the game is broke in the demo, I'll wait a few days before buying to see if they patched it out on release. The fact that they're willing to release a demo makes me think they're confident they got a game that won't break easily. I just hope...

Best Fighting Game Except Soul Calibur

If I feel a game has competitive value for me- I'll make an effort to learn it, at least until the effort required is greater then what I'll gain. (VF, Tekken, KOF98) The real problem is I know I won't be hitting tournies anymore- my life doesn't allow it, that kinda kills the drive. I like...

Best Fighting Game Except Soul Calibur

You're right to say I'm mad on some things. Well, SF4 is not bad- it just could have been much better, though I suspect we'd each say the exact opposite thing on how to improve the game. I just think it's overrated, not bad. I think Capcom gets a free pass on mediocre/poor design ideas...

Best Fighting Game Except Soul Calibur

VF is less study then you'd think. I'd say honestly, Blazblue requires the most time in training mode and reading crap, for a vastly inferior game. Tekken requires a little more study also, due to the size and inconsistency of the roster. VF you pretty much learn quick what the staple moves...

Best Fighting Game Except Soul Calibur

I felt VF overrelied on option selects, but it's beatable at least. The overreliance caused some folks to prefer VF4 to VF5, where the option selects were used in a much narrower set of circumstances.
