Answers that throw the game's balance, and hence, its quality, into question. What good is a vs game if the characters don't have an even chance to win, after all? Stuff like "Stupid Cervy/Mitsu/Natsu damage killed me in just four hits", stuff like "Viola pressure is inescapable", "Voldo/Yoshi jank is unreadable", "Sieg is unpunishable." Bad answers. Things that are not true. But I believe them on some level.

And my favorite one that crops up no matter who I'm fighting: "Damned Leixia damage prevented me from getting the win that I deserved."

The only point of the game is to win, so just win and then you can't get teabagged
TiZ

"Play another character," I premptively predict you say. But then I'm having less fun. I don't want to play as Pyrrha or Pat or Mitsu just because they're good. I don't enjoy their styles the way I do Leixia's. The purpose is defeated.

Accept against Fenris, he likes to teabag all the time, even when he loses *sorry fenris but you were the rugi hope for midland! What are we supposed to do now?*

"Study the game and learn your counters," I predict is the next response. But studying the game is not my idea of fun. I'm not going to sit down and grind out all the frame data, specific evades, and punishes for every character because I don't have the mental capability to absorb all of it, and again, it's not fun to me.

I see these alerts popping up as I post comments. I'm not done yet.

Since I am not willing to do the things that will allow me to win more often, the best recourse is just to accept losing, to accept that I will not reach a competitive level.

"just win" I'm not even going to go into all the myriad reasons that this is really stupid advice.

Well, I don't know enough about Leixia to comment, although... I do find it peculiar that people think she is better than Raphael. I should ask some people why...

Say, have you got any footage of a really good Leixia doing well?
TiZ

MTFighter won a tournament with Leixia. I don't remember which one though.

And well predicted, this section was going to be about trying somebody else, but that's just because I wanted to offer at least something.

I'm sure you've learnt everything you need to about Leixia and even her matchups by this point. Any real advice needs some footage to analyse or some games to play... and I'm probably not the one to give it.

I have used Pyrrha before to greater success but less enjoyment. I don't want to be competitive anymore. So it doesn't matter.

Just like that, eh? Hgnnh... I really want to get a better sense of how to help... I want to fight, see what happens... It would probably lag and make things worse... I dunno.

I don't mind fighting you. Just don't fight me with the angle of, "how can I improve his game?" Fight me just for the sake of fighting me.

You actually got a lot better. I had to REALLY focus to catch up because of how many wins you got on me. I was like dammit....I can't dick around with TiZ anymore.

Tiz don't get caught up too much in this high competitive scene.. =P Just play games for fun, winning is fun, losing isn't really fun, but there are plenty of games to be competitive at.

Some SC5 players are just insanely good, they devote a lot of time to being good, don't feel like you need to meet some standard.

Real Talk; If you want to win you have to put in work. You just cant "be good" without some effort. If you don't study frames you won't beat people who have. If you don't learn the MU you won't beat people that have.

My advice, either put time into getting better, or play people who want to "have fun" instead.
TiZ
TiZ
I know I have to put in work to win. I have evaluated what I am willing and not willing to do. I don't expect to "be good" without that work. I know that since I'm not going to put in the work, I'm going to be pretty much where I am now with only tiny improvements here and there. Basically how I've been for the past year.

I have other games I want to play. If I tried to list all the games I like to play, I'd run out of space. I always jump straight into matches when I play because, well, I'm there to play. I don't see SCV as this thing that I need to dominate and win. Something to put time and effort into, like school or work. To me, it's another game. And I'll improve in the ways that intersect with enjoyment.
