well to be fair, even Leixia looks retarded if the opponent doesn't figure out how to get around her frame traps. But that's the way it is. I'll agree that some characters have more bases covered to compensate for weaknesses, but learning punishment, and learning what moves you lose to in particular go a long way in finding said weaknesses
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
and the thing is, the better you get at understanding why players use the move they use, rather than focusing on EVERYTHING one char could POTENTIALLY do, the easier these weaknesses will be to spot intuitively

A guide like that is exactly what my Leixia vs World tutorials were going to be, but it just would've taken too much time and likely ended up unfinished since I didn't even know half the cast well enough

You hit the point I'm trying to get to right on the head. I'm not trying to be like "bluh bluh imbalanced" because even Leixia is dumb when you don't know what to do. Every character is dumb when you don't what to do. And the cast in general tends to be really good at hiding what you're supposed to do to them. In my opinion, anyways. [...]

You say that learning punishment is something I need to do... when I think of that I hear "okay buckle down with the frame data and figure everything out." Not only am I studying, but I'm studying in order to study because I first have to find out what it is I really need to remember. That's two layers of studying! That's not my idea of enjoyment. [...]

That's why I want a guide that presents the most important stuff in an easily digestible format. Let's go bigger than Leixia vs. the world, let's do YOU vs. the world. We could go around to each of the Soul Arenas and compile this information from the players there.

And I'm not even saying "someone go do it for me so I can use it." Like... I would totally get involved with creating it. I *want* to, but I have a feeling that it'd just be a repeat of me trying to start that mid-level tournament.
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
I hear you, but what's more important in terms of learning how to defend than punishment? That's where I get confused, since punishment is the basics of basics when it comes to anti-char
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
I'm not telling you to pull up an essay on frames and study it. By playing you should be able to tell which moves give you the hardest time with whatever character you face. If you know Mitsu 4B is a problem, then focus on that. If it's Maxi 6A+B, then focus on that, etc.
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
Or, you can ask people what the frames are, lol. Most will just straight up tell you, "dude that shit's -16"
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
Or maybe you watch someone else's match and see how they deal with it. Either way, you don't have to turn "studying" into a mind-numbing, number-crunching activity. Just take baby-steps
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
And also remember, it's still a game. And I'm assuming it's a game you must enjoy playing since you haven't given up on it yet.

Real talk, the reason I can even say all this is cause I've been through it myself.

I think we're miscommunicating here. I'm focused on the idea of a guide that everyone can use in order to learn the most essential punishes, and you're focused on the fact that the best way for me to learn the punishes is to pinpoint the specific moves I hate and learn to counter them. And you are right, not contesting that.

oh shit more words ambushed me

Yeah, I do enjoy it since I keep coming back. I'm super attached to my CaS (obviously), and there's something about the gameplay I enjoy but can't put my finger on. And thanks for all this real talk by the way. I don't get how guys like you and Alex always put up with me, but I really do appreciate it.
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
well the whole point of even posting on your profile to begin with was about trying to help you as a player. The guide thing is great, but I feel it's separate from your own personal player growth at this point
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
as for putting up with you, it's not a problem. Hell, I wish I had known players doing this for me when I was coming up, man. But I had to figure it out the hard way.
ZeroEffect317
ZeroEffect317
anyway, you really should find a way to upload your matches. Preferably ones where you had some trouble, so there's stuff to learn from.

Well, you can count on me paying that kindness forward if I can get out of this slump. And you're probably right. I should probably focus on helping just me instead of helping everyone + me. It's not like there's much "everyone" left to help at this point anyways, at least until SC2HD.
