It's like they expected to be more interesting, to give more elaborative responses. Like, they asked me the typical question, "Tell us about yourself." My response: Well, I'm a college student, and I'm really in need of a job. *Awkward moment of silence, hinting that they expected more*
That question is to gauge the level at which you can express yourself and get your point across. It's worth it to write yourself a few bullet points to remember at least.
The thing is, I could put on a superficial persona and probably give them what I think they are looking for, but I'd rather not. I can't understand how these questions should have any bearing on the likelihood of getting hired.
Because they are done to have a superficial understanding of you like a person, the way you answer, the kind you give, if you come too blunt they may think you don't really care. Making a proper first impression is important, you see?
