MK is a good transition game because it has a mainly 3D feel, but on a 2D field with some 2D elements (and a block button!).
Or persona 4, because of relatively easy inputs and lower emphasis on combos than a lot of 2d games.

I wouldn't recommend MK mainly because nothing else plays like MK.

IMO, it'd be best to spend some time on Street Fighter 2. That gives you all the grounding you need to get into the other 2d games. It's also fairly basic so you don't have to worry about advanced movement, applying supers etc and whatnot.

SF2 is fairly old isn't it? Is there a physical copy of it or do I download from XBL marketplace?
