If quantum physics is correct then our universe is a pure quantum state evolving deterministically, but we collapse it to a classically random (mixed) state by observing it. So it's deterministic and random. Look up "interpretations of wavefunction collapse".

Both my parents are scientists so I was brought up without any notion of religion. When I became old enough to learn about religions, I find them utterly ludicrous. Belief without evidence is not a virtue.
