I can't take it anymore...

C'mon man it's kinda unfair to base your opinion on just a couple of business meetings. Especially when the business culture in Japan has quite a few intricate etiqoettes. Professional life has a much stronger hierarchical structure than most western cultures in my opinion. Either way, I lived there for a half a year and I made a lot of good friends there. Almost everyone is really helpful and polite. But as with any culture you can only really see how they are after you've gone through that superficial layer (and from my experience, they are great). Of course there are bastards and dumb people everywhere, but I think you're being a tad unfair in light of frustration.

Lol, just registered. This is probably not the best way to make my first post. I've been reading 8wayrun a lot. My main is Ivy, nice to meet you all.

Um... dude you do realize there are stupid people everywhere right?(not just Japan or USA they're everywhere)besides how many foreigners do you think had to come to the states to talk business? I sure half of them thought Americans were stupid.

WHY THE FUCK DO PPL LIKE JAPAN?
Don't be bashing Japan, my man. Without Japan, you wouldn't even be on this forum.

Please keep in mind when dealing with Japanese businessmen that their business interactions are very bound by etiquette. For example, you will find that they will very seldom say 'no', as it is considered to be rude. More often than not, they will suggest alternatives or respond with a 'yes' when they clearly mean the opposite.

EXAMPLE: My personal experience at a Japanese train station.

Me (to the ticket vendor): Hello, I'd like to catch the next train to Tokyo.
Vendor: Oh, but wouldn't you much rather go to Kyoto instead?
Me: Um, no, I'm headed for Tokyo.
Vendor: Are you sure? Because Kyoto is very nice this time of year.
Et cetera...

You get the idea. After about 6 minutes I finally managed to find out that I couldn't take the train to Tokyo from that station.

In short, just keep in mind that what you interpret as them being stupid may very well be a manners thing rather than an intelligence thing.

Here's a page with some good explanations and pointers. Best of luck.
