I don't see what's wrong about changing things up and experimenting with your mascot, especially when the changes are decent if not even better, (modern Sonic). As I said before, at least they are keeping him fresh and trying to take risks with the series instead of packaging the same thing out like Mario does. I personally am more than accepting of a lot of the changes they have been making, as long as they don't do what they did to Spyro... Sales and all aside, I think Sonic Team does a much better job with Sonic and his games than Nintendo does with Mario and his games, I think a company should always be willing to take risks to try new things to please the fans, instead of showing zero creativity at all and just giving them the same thing they had 20 years ago.
