MK9 Komplete didn't, but it was a final release of 9 with all the DLC on-disc. If you got all the patches with 9 (which you would if you went online), you could still play with any other player.

SSF4:AE did, I suppose, but it also acted as a massive balance patch before ver. 2012.

It seems like DOA5U is going to be most like UMVC3.

I don't know. That's why I am asking.....

For the time being, I'd just hold onto DOA5 and play it in preparation of DOA5U if you're interested in that game. SSF4:AE did allow you to play with SSF4 players and same with MK9: KE & MK9. Hopefully TN goes this route with DOA5U.
