How come JRPG's don't let me do just frames. And the ones that do, how come they have stories?

Games are made for a specific type of play experience. Criticizing a game for not having elements outside its core aesthetic is wrong and stupid.

If you are playing a fighting game for the story, then complaining about it, you ARE playing for the wrong reasons. Fun does not make something objectively right.
