I wasn't trying to be negative. Just as an example - I can take $60 and go to a casino and win $5000 and get paid the same day for winning a daily poker tournament. It takes about 6-8 hours to win that tournament, and is probably more difficult.
From what I've read, it sounds like the payment mechanism for some of these tournaments is more in line with sweepstakes winnings, where it takes months to get paid. That doesn't seem very legitimate to me in comparison to other sports.
It sounds like an organizational, marketing and business management issue. If you want to be taken seriously, why not create a Player's Association? Have a group of representatives discuss the challenges that gamers face, with Sponsors/Advertisers and the game developers.
Or has this been done already?
