I dunno why, but for some reason the "gay" community doesnt really fascinate me per say. More like intruiges me. Like I want to know more and understand how gay people think. But at the same time I dont want to be made fun of by my piers (if that makes sense).

I blame my wife actually. Funny story:

When we first started dating (about 10 years ago), I went to her house for like our 3rd date. Now I had known from our first couple dates that she was....well....how to put it nicley......a fuckin freak in the sack! And so was I. So I walk into her house and she has the TV going in her room. Im like "cool what we watchin.....a movie?" she says "something like that, go check it out." I walk into her room and she has bi-sexual porn going on. I didnt see exactly what it was at first, I was just happy it was porn. So I sat down proceeded to watch it and I sat there I guess with a look on my face like I was in high school history class. I was studying and try to learn what was going on. She still says to this day "thats how I knew you were the one for me. You didnt go running out screaming."

Since then we have added some gay porn to the library and watch it quite often. Now I guess this stems another question from an ignorant straight guy:

What do you call a guy who is married and straight (i know that might not mean anything) that doesnt mind things like that? I dont go around checking out guys at all. Cause honestly they dont turn me on like that. Its more just the sexual act than anything. So where does that put a guy like me?

A straight guy who is not a douchebag?

The only problem is that gay guys will probably have the hots for you but oops, you have a wife

Straight I'd say. Perhaps bi-curious at most :) x

Now, bizarre as it may seem, I really have no real care for the gay world or it's culture. I adamantly refuse to take part in pride parades and such, because I see them as a bit of a joke.

I find though, that a lot of people don't seem to ask questions. Maybe they're worried what people will think of them? Who knows. But the only way to dispel a lot of the stigma that still seems to persist, is to answer the questions, whether they're being asked or not. This is why, at least from my perspective, a lot of gays I've met come off as 'pre-emptively defensive', usually over-explaining things.

So your concerns make perfect sense, but the fact that you can still ask shows you're a better man then most, who assume and leave it there.

I found your story interesting, but not surprising. You seem open-minded, but in a way that's secure with who you are. By that, I mean some people can be open-minded, and allow it to really change them, whereas you know who YOU are, you just want to know more about everything else. As a family man, that's a great foundation for your son to build his father figure image from: Someone who knows who he is, and where he stands, and isn't afraid to ask, explore and learn.

Anyway, that got a bit mushy there. Essentially, when you watch gay porn as a straight man, it doesn't really mean anything other then you're not homophobic. You may not fully understand the complexities of it all, but it doesn't frighten you.

You're comfortable enough within yourself to experience things outside your world.
